I'm so glad you're here!

As a certified Somatic Exercise Instructor, I created SomaRide to empower busy riders who, despite trying hard to improve, are tired of feeling frustrated and blocked in their progress.
It’s not you. You’re not broken, unathletic, or unteachable. You’ve just been missing the right approach. Your body isn’t the enemy—it just needs a new way to learn. Once you understand how to work with it, everything starts to click.

Riding requires both self awareness and technical skills.  In my experience as an instructor, if a rider does not have an awareness of their own body, posture, and movement patterns, then it is difficult to learn the technical skills and timing. This leads to frustration, fear, and self doubt as well as tense, crooked, and anxious horses!

This course introduces you to the science of Clinical Somatics, a gentle, brain-to-muscle method that taps into your sensorimotor cortex to reverse chronic tension patterns, improve posture, and restore symmetry.

What You’ll Learn:

✔ How to gently release postural tension that’s pulling you out of alignment
✔ The secret to retraining your muscle memory—using your brain, not brute force
✔ 4 simple exercises (done off the horse!) to improve your body awareness and symmetry
✔ Why the sensorimotor cortex is key to unlocking long-lasting balance and ease

Bonus!

🎁 A 5-minute somatic based practice to help your horse release tension

(Because your horse deserves to feel better, too.)

Who It’s For:

This course is perfect for you if you:

  • Feel tight, crooked, or out of sync when you ride

  • Struggle to “fix” your posture no matter how hard you try

  • Feel stuck in getting your body to coordinate the nuances of independent aids and subtle position/weight shifts at the upper levels

  • Want a way to continue progress even if there is bad weather, lost shoes, and too little time in the saddle

Is this course right for you?

You are in the right place if...

  • You are frustrated that your trainer has to keep telling you the same position corrections over and over, and yet you can't seem to make your body do the right thing, no matter how hard you try (or how much they yell or explain!)

  • You know what you need to do to improve, but trying to fix your position hurts or ends up feeling stiff or forced

  • You have crookedness and stiffness in your body

  • You have trouble following the horse's motion with your body and feel out of sync with the horse's gaits

  • You struggle with the correct timing and feel for giving your aids

  • Tension and stiffness in your body are making you feel unsafe when you ride or try new things

  • You want to get better results from your strengthening routines or rider workout programs

  • As you have gotten older, had children, or gotten injured, your body feels different than it used to, hurts, and is stiff or unbalanced...or, you spend a lot of time each day at a desk, in the car, on your phone, or on a computer

  • Every time you feel like you make progress, something interferes with your riding time...bad weather, hurt horse, missing shoe, too busy to ride...you want a way to support consistent improvements even when you can't ride

  • You are willing to invest 10-20 minutes a couple of days a week to building more body awareness and control, relieving stiffness and crookedness

This course is not for you if...

(and that is ok!)

  • You are looking for a course about riding skill sets, riding aids, schooling figures, and other under saddle training practices

  • You feel your riding struggles are just because your horse has issues or needs more training and have nothing to do with you

  • You are in a hurry to get to a certain outcome (ie, master your changes or leg yield in time for a show), and are not willing or interested in taking time to reconnect with your body to create long term benefits

  • You are not open to learning new information that might challenge what you learned or knew before

  • You have an acute injury that limits your ability to safely or comfortably do gentle movements with your body
